ROLL CALL The Regular Meeting of the Anderson City Council was called to order by Mayor Keith Fetzer at 6:30 PM.
AGENDA APPROVAL M/S T. Howard/ T. McPherson moved to approve the agenda.
No further discussion. Motion passed unanimously.
Minutes M/S K. Southwood / P. Dempster moved to approve the minutes from the Regular Meeting, April 14, 2009 and The Special Meeting April 25, 2009 with amended change to The Special Meeting April 25, 2009 add Karen Southwood as present under roll call. M/K. Southwood/T. Howard moved to approved. Motion passed unanimously.
Correspondence Mayor Fetzer reported on the following; Forestry offering to put a sign up within city limits, for the fire rating. City staff will be helping with every day changes. Play ground equipment was donated to the Anderson Park from Clear Air Base. Clear Air Base will help with the labor. There will be a controlled burn on June 21, 2009 – Tanana Flats. Possible smoke will be expected in the area, on that week.
Financial Reports M/S / K. Southwood /S. Thompson moved to receive the financial reports for April 2009. It was reported that Anderson financial reports are standing at 68%. Motion passed unanimously.

Bills to be Paid M/S K. Southwood/T. Howard moved to approve the bills to be paid for April 2009. There was a comment that The City of Anderson doesn’t have to pay for EMT class, because it was five students from different areas paying for the class and it equaled EMT class cost. There was a question on QuickBooks renewal, the city has to renew QuickBooks every three years for payroll. Motion passed unanimously.

Public Access Jean Murray asked if flowers were going to still be donated and if the sign on the Highway was going to be fixed. Mayor Fetzer answered, the kids at Anderson School will be fixing the sign on the Highway and the City of Anderson will be sending letters to several different businesses asking for any donation of flowers. Mayor Fetzer also added the City of Anderson will post a sign up list to for people interested in filling the pots at the ends of the roads with flowers. City will fill pots with soil and families on list will be responsible for filling them with flowers. The council commented on filling a 55 gallon tank with water once a week to help with the watering of the flowers but won’t commit to watering daily. The city does not have money in budget to pay someone to water the plants. K. Southwood volunteered to be on the team to water the flowers.
Bob Murray asked about starting a marketing committee that could meet every four weeks to help improve the city. Mayor Fetzer would like to be involved. Committee would work on city website and start sending out broachers. Bob Murray commented on school, that they are working hard and doing a great job.
Chip Morris wanted to thank council for working with him on his Bed and Breakfast.
Jean Murray asked to open city building for coffee and cookies to meet with people.
Department Reports P. Dempster stated that Anderson Park will be opening soon and wanted to know if the city knew who owned the old buildings in Anderson. Mayor Fetzer responded saying Nancy Hollis has been working on the lots trying to find out who owns them. Further work will be done to resolve the issue. Paul requested painting the shooting range structure.
K. Southwood stated that there are five new EMT’s all of them requesting jump suits. Lion’s Club cleanup will be Saturday morning 9:00a.m. starting from school to clear access road. City used to have a pest management program, would like to see that implemented again. Burn permits are now needed.

T. McPherson stated clinic apartment will be open June 15th
City will post this opening.
S. Thompson stated the Land survey is at Department of Natural Resources (DNR) waiting for review.
K. Fetzer asked S. Thompson to form a committee to present an ordinance to the council on vacant homes. To come up with a plan if unoccupied they receive a tax bill. Only on unoccupied homes, does not affect people who live here. Administratively the city is close to the end of the year. DMV is doing well and busy.
Denali Borough Mayor
Reports Dave Talerico stated bad tourism reports. Applied for grant money received $50,000 for energy conservation. Energy doors for the Anderson Fire Department will fall under this grant. Work on fire hall should be able to be done with stimulus funding. Exchange of property by landfill for septic facilities needs to be completed. Resolution is completed Mayor Fetzer and Mayor Talerico will get together this summer to try to complete process. Village Save Water is expected to pay for survey and handling of land exchange. Dave needs list of items for EMT and will apply for any supplies EMS needs. City will receive a three year revenue packet plan in the mail.
Public Hearing Opened @ 7:16 09-02 Amended
Ordinance 09-02 Nancy Hollis was going over the 2009 Amended Budget and
Amended Budget 2009 2010 Budget she was concerned with the expenses and revenues.
Ordinance 09-03 She made recommendations on how to correct errors in the
2010 Budget Budgets.
