9.04.010 Definitions. Whenever in this title the terms "street" or "highway" are used, they shall be inter­preted to mean every way habitually used for public travel. (Prior code AO §6.01.00)

 

9.04.020 Operator's license required. No person shall operate any motor vehicle in the city unless he is licensed as an operator as required by the laws of the state of Alaska, and unless he has such license so granted in his possession at all times while operating a motor vehicle, and no such person shall violate any condition or privilege of such license. No person shall permit an unlicensed driver to operate any motor vehicle owned by him within the city. (Prior code AO §6.01.05)

 

9.04.030 Authority of city to regulate traffic. The city council shall at all times have the full power and au­thority to establish no-parking zones, loading zones, bus stops, taxi stands, cross walks, parking time limits, through streets, stop streets, and one-way streets, and generally to do all things necessary for the regulation of traffic in the city; and to designate some city employee to be charged with the duty of installing all signs, signals, markers and legends pursuant to such regulations and it shall be unlawful for any person to obey or comply with any such sign, signal, marker or legend. 9.04.040 Obstructions and excavations. Any obstruc­tion or excavation on the roadway shall have barricades and warning lights visible to oncoming motor and foot traffic. (Prior code AO §6.01.30)

 

9.04.050 Snow removal--Clearing streets of vehicles. The city council may, as often as it deems necessary, cause all streets or portions of streets, to be cleared of all vehicles for set periods of time for the removal of snow without hindrance, and to close such streets or portions thereof during snow removal. (Prior code AO §6.01.85)

 

9.04.060 Throwing sharp objects onto streets. It is unlawful for any person to throw, deposit or place in or upon any street any nails, tacks, crockery, scrap iron, tinware, bottles, glass or any other articles or things likely to puncture or injure the tires of any vehicles. (Prior code AO §6.01.75)
