LIBRARY BOARD

2.40.010      Establishment—Operation.

            2.40.010  Establishment—operation.  A.   The city council shall appoint a library board to govern generally the operation of the library.  The board, at their annual regular October meeting, shall have at least three members, only one of whom may be a councilperson, and at least one member shall be a school official, or appointed by a school official. (Ord. 04-02)

               B.  The library board shall set policy for the operation of the library including but not limited to:

                      1.  Uses of library facilities;

                      2.  Requests for appropriation and equipment acquisitions;

                      3.  New library facilities;

                      4.  General book selection and variety; and

                      5.  Special library-related programs.

            Board decisions, other than funding , shall be followed by the librarian, and are otherwise effective unless specifically objected to by the city council.  (Prior code AO  §9.05.05)
